We took our family to this office today and everyone was so nice. Dr. Zajac was so personable and good with the kids. Everyone was efficient and made sure we were all comfortable and taken good care of! The office has such a welcoming feel to it too, which is always such a plus! We highly recommend this office!

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I feel pain?

At Today Dental of Northlake you no longer have to feel pain getting dental treatment! Modern root canal procedures are performed with local anesthesia, ensuring that patients feel little to no pain during the treatment. Advances in techniques and technology have significantly reduced discomfort.

Do root canals weaken teeth?

In some cases (ie large molar) just doing a root canal will weaken the tooth. After root canal treatment the nerve and blood vessels going to the tooth are gone and the tooth tends to dry out and get brittle. This is why a crown is recommended on all posterior (back) teeth. In many cases, a root canal can be done on an anterior (front) tooth without needing to get a crown.

Same day root canals?

Absolutely! Don’t suffer any longer. We are Today Dental. It’s in our name. We’ll get you in today to get you out of pain and that tooth fixed. We have set time aside on our schedule for this exact reason. If for some rare reason the office is closed, we’ll get you into our sister office down the street for immediate treatment.

No pain but still need a root canal?

In many cases (more often than not) a root canal is needed even when there is no pain present. This is typically because the tooth is already dead (no more nerve inside the tooth) to feel pain. At this point, the tooth desperately needs root canal treatment. If not, a serious abscess is likely to form or has already formed. At Today Dental of Northlake we’ll determine the need for root canal treatment by evaluating the teeth and more importantly looking at an x-ray of your teeth.

Why shouldn’t I just pull it?

Saving teeth is much more cost effective in the long run. Yes, you can save a few bucks today by having the tooth pulled, but the options to replace that tooth are going to be much more expensive (i.e. implant or denture). Also, every time you pull a tooth, the adjacent teeth now have to take on more force from your jaw (biting force). This means the remaining teeth tend to break and crack sooner than if all teeth were present.
